Our exotic orchids take center stage in a woodland setting of green, leafy ferns as one of our most popular displays returns to the conservatory. Enjoy these exotic beauties and then purchase one of your own from a selection available from Bird's Botanicals. Related drop-in sessions include:

Mini-Garden in Glass
1-3 p.m. March 13-14
Create your own mini woodland scene in a terrarium. In this drop-in session will learn which plants do well in an enclosed environment and plan a 6-inch semi-closed glass container to take home. All materials, including the plant, are included. The fee is $15 per project; regular Garden admission applies.

All About Vanilla
1-3 p.m. March 20-21
From the vining orchid Vanilla planifolia we get the delicious flavor vanilla. Discover fun facts about this flavoring by examining dissected vanilla beans with a hand lens. Kids can let their tastebuds tour a selection of childhood treats flavored with vanilla, while adults will enjoy sampling a cream flavored with real vanilla in a free cup of coffee. All samples are FREE while supplies last!

Do orchids intimidate you? Don't let your fear factor keep you from enjoying these exotic beauties. Members of the Orchid Society of Greater Kansas City will be here throughout the weekend to answer your questions and offer advice on orchid care.
