A Beautiful Place to Celebrate

Mother's Day (Sunday, May 10) is a perfect time of year to visit Powell Gardens. From 1 to 3 p.m. enjoy a picnic on the lawn as you listen to the tunes of perennial favorite Brookside Brass—a Mother's Day tradition for more than a decade. Playing everything from pop to jazz standards, this brass quintet knows how to please a crowd!

The Brookside Brass performance goes on rain or shine. We will move the concert indoors if necessary. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and an umbrella, and enjoy the show! You are welcome to bring a picnic or purchase food and drink from Café Thyme's outdoor grill (open 11 a.m.-3 p.m.)

And don't miss the Bonsai Society of Greater Kansas City's spring exhibit, which is on display 10 a.m.-4 p.m. If you would like to learn more about the ancient art of bonsai, stop by Kathy Schlesinger's Introduction to Bonsai at 1:30 p.m.
