In the Conservatory

The conservatory within the Visitor Center offers inspiration and color throughout the year--no matter the weather. Visit now to enjoy our orchid exhibit in a rainforest setting.

In 2013, Powell Gardens featured the amazing LEGO brick sculptures of New York artist Sean Kenney. Beginning in May of 2015, the Gardens will feature a completely new set of Kenney's work with the presentation of Nature Connects 2. Learn more > 






Our festivals include:

Booms & Blooms: A patriotic celebration with a dazzling daylily display, inspiring music by the Lee's Summit Symphony and a dramatic fireworks display over the dark country sky.

Festival of Butterflies: An interactive experience with hundreds of tropical butterflies and moths flying freely in our temporary indoor exhibit.

Harvest Celebration & Antique Tractor Show: A celebration of our Midwestern heritage with antique tractors, engines and equipment; old-time crafts, pumpkins, apple cider and more.

GLOW Jack-O-Lantern Festival: More than 700 hand-carved pumpkins light a flickering trail through the Gardens during this spellbinding Halloween experience.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny and Easter Egg Hunt, typically the Saturday before Easter.

Did you know? Goatweed Leafwings are one of five species of butterflies that overwinter as adult butterflies at Powell Gardens. They begin mating when the goatweeds (a native annual) germinate in midspring. See our butterfly guide »
