Mother's Day (Sunday, May 12) is a perfect time of year to visit Powell Gardens! Come for brunch in Café Thyme (prepaid reservations required) or bring a picnic to enjoy on the lawn as you listen to the tunes of perennial favorite Brookside Brass from 1 to 3 p.m.

The brunch has sold out! Burgers, brats, hot dogs and more will be available for purchase at Cafe Thyme's outdoor grill from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Also, you are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy during the Brookside Brass concert from 1-3 p.m.

About Brookside Brass
A Mother's Day tradition at Powell Gardens for more than a decade, this brass quintet knows how to please a crowd! Playing everything from pop to jazz standards, the group is led by trombonist Stephanie Cox, who received a B.M. in Trombone Performance from UMKC in 1984. She has studied with members of the Chicago Symphony and at the Aspen Music Festival. Stephanie is principal trombonist for the St. Joseph Symphony and the Northland Symphony. She is Instructor of Trombone at Washburn University in Topeka, Kan., and works as a freelance musician throughout the Kansas City area.
